The Eden Hotel Collection, Rigby Group’s hotels division, has achieved gold recognition across its entire portfolio for the first time in recognition of its sustainability efforts.

The collection - which operates Bovey Castle, Mallory Court Hotel and Spa, The Arden Hotel, Brockencote Hall Hotel, and The Greenway Hotel and Spa - has been awarded gold status by Green Tourism.

It is a certification that has been assessing travel, tourism and hospitality businesses’ approaches to sustainability for more than 27 years via bronze, silver and gold gradings.

The Greenway in Cheltenham, The Arden Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon and Brockencote Hall in Chaddesley Corbett near to Bromsgrove have each been awarded gold certifications for the first time after clinching silver and bronze in previous years, with the Collection’s other hotels having previously gained and retained gold awards.

Both The Greenway and The Arden have been recognised for their wider community engagement, particularly engaging with local schools and associations, including the building of handmade birdboxes by the Men’s Sheds Association at The Greenway and a newly developed kitchen garden at The Arden.

Brockencote Hall have harvested their first batch of honey from hives in the grounds, have reduced their food waste by 44% year on year, and have been praised for their support of local charities, community engagement and providing several low carbon activities for their guests to partake in.

Jayne O’Malley, Group Operations Director at Eden Hotel Collection commented: “Sustainability matters on various fronts – not only is it the right thing to do for our teams, our local communities, future generations, and the planet, it matters also to our guests that we take our responsibilities seriously as these results show.

“Our teams are proud to provide luxury hospitality with a conscience, and I am immensely proud of their recognised achievements to date."
