Rigby Group’s aviation division comprises British International Helicopters (BIH), Patriot Aviation and Capital Air Ambulance, the UK’s largest air ambulance service.
BIH is a highly respected operator of medium and heavy aircraft, with particular expertise in offshore operations and the defence sector. The division enjoys long term partnerships with both military and commercial clients, delivering a wide range of helicopter services in some of the world’s most challenging flying and environmental conditions.
In April 2016, BIH commenced a major contract to provide combined Search and Rescue (“SAR”) and Support Helicopter Services in the Falklands for 10 years. The contract, serviced by BIH together with AAR Airlift and Air Rescue Services, has a total value of £180m.
BIH also provides utility support contracts across many commercial sectors including construction, media, national parks, Police and Air Ambulance capability and commercial helicopter services. It is also developing solutions for the emerging offshore wind power sector.

Its team of highly skilled and dedicated engineers care for Cessna, Piper and Diamond aircraft from its base at Coventry Airport, delivering exceptional standards of work. Trusted, experienced and capable, Patriot was the first company in the world (in a previous incarnation) to gain JAR 145 (now EASA Part 145) approval in February 1992.
Respected for its world class medical expertise, Capital Air Ambulance provides a rapid response to requests for medical assistance and repatriation flights 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year with its fleet of King Air and Lear Jet aircraft.
In addition, it provides medical escorts on commercial airline flights or via ground ambulance, offering medical case handling and/or translation services. A full spectrum of patients can be looked after, including those with acute and chronic medical conditions as well as provision of specialist adult, neonatal and paediatric care.
